About the Review
The Review publishes original writing on law and public policy by students, in print issues and on our blog.
Purpose
The Oxford Undergraduate Law & Policy Review was founded in Trinity Term 2025 to give students a place to publish original legal and policy analysis that goes beyond the undergraduate syllabus.
Undergraduate legal writing has tended to appear in one of two places: informal blogs offering brief commentary, and highly selective journals whose standards can deter first-time authors. The Review aims to occupy the ground between them, publishing work that is rigorous and ambitious while remaining open to students who have not published before.
History
The Review succeeds Verdict, the Oxford Law Society’s magazine of student writing, whose issues from 2016 to 2019 are preserved in our archive. Our first issue, covering Michaelmas 2025 and Hilary 2026, opened with a foreword by the Rt Hon Lord Justice Dingemans, Senior President of Tribunals.
